About the clinic

Two physiotherapists and a front desk, in Hoole since 2016

Hannah opened Limberwell after eleven years in NHS musculoskeletal clinics, wanting longer appointments and the same physiotherapist at every visit. Dev joined in 2019 to look after the runners and club players. Carys keeps the diary, the phone and the two of them in order.

A bright treatment room: a couch with a teal cover on a wheeled frame, and a desk and two chairs by a window with its blinds drawn.
The treatment room. The couch goes up and down, the desk is for the talking, and there’s enough floor to watch you walk.

Who’s who

  • Hannah

    Founder and physiotherapist

Hannah spent eleven years in NHS musculoskeletal clinics before opening Limberwell in 2016. She sees most of our backs and necks and nearly everyone recovering from an operation. She thinks most exercise sheets are too long, and writes hers on a single card.

Chartered physiotherapist, registered with the regulator

  • Dev

    Sports physiotherapist

Dev looks after runners and players from clubs around Chester, and spends a fair few Saturdays at the side of a pitch. He runs himself, slowly by his own account. He will want to see your trainers.

  • Carys

    Front desk

Carys answers the phone, runs the diary and knows which of the two you should see. If you’re not sure whether physio is what you need, start by telling Carys.

What you can expect from us

A small black dumbbell, a folded teal exercise band and the end of a rolled‑up mat, laid out on a white floor.
Most of the exercises we give need a band, a small weight or nothing at all.
The same person every time
You see Hannah or Dev at every visit, not whoever happens to be free.
A number at the start
At your first appointment we say how many sessions we expect it to take. If that changes, we tell you why.
Exercises you’ll actually do
Two or three, written down, chosen to fit the day you really have.
An honest “not us”
If physio isn’t the right thing for you, we say so and suggest who to see instead.

Your first appointment, step by step

It lasts 45 minutes. Come five minutes early if you can: Carys will have a short form for you.

Looking before treating: how your shoulders sit tells us a good deal.
  1. Before you come

    What to wear and bring

Something you can move in: shorts for a leg, a vest top for a shoulder. A list of any medicines, and any scan reports or hospital letters you have. If you’re using health insurance, your authorisation number.

  2. 0 to 10 minutes

    We talk

What happened, what it stops you doing, and what you want to get back to.

  3. 10 to 25 minutes

    We look

How you move, what’s stiff, what’s weak and what hurts. We’ll ask before anything hands‑on, and you’re welcome to bring someone with you.

  4. 25 to 30 minutes

We tell you what we think

What it is, how long it usually takes and how many sessions we expect. If it isn’t one for physio, this is when we say so.

  5. 30 to 45 minutes

    We start

A first treatment, and two or three exercises to take home.

  6. Afterwards

    Carys takes over

She books your follow‑up, if you need one, and emails your exercises. You pay on the day, by card or cash.
