Handyman in Chester Odd jobs, done properly.
The door that sticks, the shelves still in their box, the tap that’s dripped since March. I’m Rob, a joiner by trade, and I’ve spent over twenty years sorting out jobs like these in Chester and the villages round it.
Ring Rob on 01632 960 417 Mon to Fri, 8am to 6pm Sat, 9am to 1pm
Got it.
I’ll ring you on as soon as I’m off the tools. When 01632 960 417 comes up on your phone, that’s me.
On a real website this would now be in Rob’s inbox. This is a sample, so nothing was sent.
Four things people ask before they ring
-
Will you actually turn up?
Yes.
You get a day and a two-hour slot, and a text when I’m setting off. If a job overruns, I ring before I’m late, not after.
-
What will it cost?
From £45.
That’s the first hour. It’s £32 an hour after that, plus materials at what I paid for them. Bigger jobs get a written quote, and the quote is the bill.
-
Will you leave a mess?
No.
Dust sheets go down before the drill comes out, and there’s a hoover in the van. Offcuts, packaging and the old tap leave with me.
-
Is my job too small?
No.
If it takes an hour, it’s a job. Most people save up three or four and I work through the list in one visit.

They need a specialist, and I’d rather say so than have a go.

About
I’m Rob. It’s just me and the van.
I served my time as a joiner in Chester, then spent a few years fitting other people’s kitchens. The big jobs paid well. The small ones were the ones people actually thanked me for.
So for over twenty years that’s what I’ve done: the door that has never shut properly, the shelf that isn’t quite level, the list on the fridge. One man, one van, and a hoover that gets used.
A bradawl is the small spike a joiner uses to start a screw hole, so the screw goes in where it’s meant to. My grandad gave me his when I was eleven. It’s still the first thing I reach for.
Three customers, in their own words
-
On turning up
“He said Tuesday at nine and he was on the drive at five to. The back door has stuck every winter since we moved in. It shuts with one finger now.”
Margaret, Handbridge -
On the price
“I let two flats and he’s who I ring between tenants. He quoted £240 for the day and the bill said £240. He sends photos when he’s done, so I don’t have to drive over and check.”
Siân, Hoole -
On the mess
“He built two wardrobes and put the telly on the wall. Dust sheets down first, and he hoovered the landing before he left. It was tidier than when he arrived, which says more about us than him.”
Tom, Upton
